Laney: Who's signed, who's available?

Laney College had a solid season on the gridiron under head coach Jay Uchiumi going 7-3 and they've had a few players sign and enroll at four-year schools. Here's a look at who has signed and who is still available..


RB Troy Evans - Signed with Colorado State in December after posting 650 yards and six touchdowns as a running back, while posting almost 1,800 yards of total offense. Was an All-American in 2007 as a return man as well. Also had offers from Arizona, Oregon, UNLV, Wyoming, Hawaii and Kansas State.

RB Chizimuzo Dimude - Led the Eagles with 820 yards rushing and nine touchdowns. Signed with Hawaii over interest from Utah State, UNLV, New Mexico, New Mexico State and Sacramento State.

DE Omar Jacobs - All-Region defensive end signed with Hofstra after posting 50 tackles, six sacks and two fumbles forced.

S Travis Ford - All-Conference First Teamer signed with Colorado State after posting 70 tackles, three interceptions and two sacks. Had offers from Troy and Marshall as well as interest from Oregon, Arizona State, Utah and Kansas.


CB Sterling Moore - All-Region corner is still available. Had a solid sophomore campaign -- posting 32 tackles and one interception -- after an outstanding freshman season in 2007 put him on the map. Receiving interest from several D-1 and D-1AA schools including Sacramento State, Portland State, Idaho State, Idaho and Utah State.

LB L.J. Hughes - Led the Eagles with 87 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks.

Other Laney prospects who are still available: P Daniel Ayers; WR Terrell Woodall; WR John Dallas; WR Jeff Perri; LB Charles Gatlin; DT Leroy Johnson; DE Marvin Jones.
