Reed signs with Sac State

Santa Rosa WR Brandyn Reed (6-3, 190) put up huge numbers for one of the top JC programs in California the past two years, but he didn't get a lot of D-1 interest. The talented pass-catcher updated JCFootball.com last week where he's headed and why he decided to take that school up on their offer...

"I signed with Sac State on Wednesday (Feb. 4th)," Reed said on Friday. "I got the offer from them and they were the ones who showed me the most interest so I figured it was the best situation for me."

As a freshman, Reed managed to post 33 receptions for 540 yards and 10 touchdowns while taking a backseat to Aubrey Quarles, but this season it was all Reed all the time for the Bearcubs as the sophomore rang up 61 receptions for 1,195 yards and 16 touchdowns as their number one target.

"People think it was easier for me last year because Aubrey took all the double-teams and they would roll coverages at him," Reed said back in November, "but for me it was harder than this year because I wasn't used to the speed and it took me a little while to get things down.

"I watched everything (Quarles) did and how he handled certain situations and now things have been pretty easy for me this year compared to last year."

Early on in the process Reed was hearing from schools like TCU, Nevada, Fresno State, Bowling Green and New Mexico, but in the end Sac State was the school that offered and where he ultimately wanted to be.
