Estes will trip to D1-AA school today

When you're a tight end, sometimes you do the gruntwork and don't get a lot of notice. Butler TE Alex Estes (6-5, 245) and his teammate TE Nate Larkis were used mainly as blockers in the Grizzlies' power-running scheme so they didn't get a lot of attention, but Estes will be on campus at Murray State this week and he may walk away with a new home to continue his college career...

"I'm heading up to Murray State tomorrow," Estes told on Tuesday night. "They've been looking at me a lot and I'm just going to go check things out and see how things go.

"I don't think I will commit while I'm up there, I want to get home and talk about things and I also want to see what else is out there."

As a sophomore in 2008, Estes hauled in nine receptions for 98 yards while also helping RB Randell Bell post a 1,000-yard season.

"They use us mainly as blockers so we have to take pride in it," Estes said. "I think we do a good job, but I can catch the ball well too when I get called on."

Estes was a full-qualifier out of high school, so he can leave at any time and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
