Could Rowells sign in the summer?

For the past two seasons, Redwoods RB Lyndon Rowells (5-10, 198) has been one of the top backs in the California JUCO ranks. So why is he still waiting on his first offer? JCFootball.com got to the bottom of that and he updated us on where things currently stand...

"I'm still waiting on an offer right now," Rowells told JCFootball.com. "I'm waiting for some classes to go through and to get some classes passed.

"I have a few schools who have told me they want me to come and play for them, but they want to make sure I can get out in summer and then they will offer me."

Rowells said BYU, Iowa State and Utah State have all let him know they like what he has to offer.

"They all like my speed (4.5) and running style," Rowells said. "They said they will be keeping an eye on things and see where I'm at after spring and then they will talk to me again."

After a standout freshman season where he posted 1,384 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2007, he followed that up with a 1,450-yard, 18-touchdown effort in 2008.

"I felt I had a great season," Rowells said. "I just need to focus this quarter and next quarter and I should be fine."

If he finishes up in the summer, Rowells will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
