Leacock has Kansas State high on his list

When you play in the shadow of the top-rated JC wideout in the country, at times it can be hard to get noticed, but College of the Canyons WR Jovon Leacock (5-10, 195) cast a shadow of his own. The gifted wideout had a solid season for the Cougars and now he may be closing in on an offer from Kansas State and he should find out his status very soon...

"Kansas State is the school I'm focused on right now," Leacock told JCFootball.com recently. "Hopefully everything goes well with them because they said they like me a lot and I feel they could be close to offering, but they haven't offered yet."

Leacock hails from Queens, New York and headed out to COC because of their national reputation.

"They have a great tradition and team," Leacock said. "They were number one when I got here and they always get their players moved on to the next level."

As a sophomore, Leacock managed to post 35 receptions for 520 yards and four touchdowns for the Cougars while taking a backseat to All-American wide receiver Hayo Carpenter.

"They turned me into a slot guy at Canyons but I can play both inside or outside," Leacock said. "Hayo is a great player, so they used him a lot, but I still got some touches."

Leacock sports a 4.43 forty time and he said schools like Bowling Green and San Diego State were both after him heavily until their coaching staffs got fired.

"It happens, so I'm just trying to get my name out there," Leacock said. "I just want tot he chance to play and to show what I can do. I know I can play at the highest level."

Leacock already has his AA degree so he can leave at any time. Wherever he ends up he'll have three years to play two.
