Porter has one visit set

San Mateo RB Daniel Porter (6-0, 195) was one of the more consistent performers at running back the past two years in the state of California, but he's still unsigned at this late stage in the 2009 recruiting process. However, he will be visiting Idaho State next weekend and he could commit on his visit.

"I'm headed up to Idaho State on the 27th (of February)," Porter told JCFootball.com. "They offered me a little while ago and I kinda like them, but I need to get up there and check things out and see what they have to offer."

Porter has plenty of things to offer whichever offense he decides to become a part of. He posted 823 yards and five touchdowns in 2008, while also hauling in seven receptions for 63 yards.

"I'm all purpose and I can do whatever a team needs me to do," Porter said. "I'm interested in anyone that wants to look at me, so nothing is set in stone right now."

"He's 6-0, 190 pounds and he's consistently clocked in the high 4.3 range for us and he's incredibly strong and incredibly fast," San Mateo defensive coordinator Tim Tulloch said. "He's the full package and he's got a great stride so at times he looks like he's just gliding along, but eventually he's just running past guys and breaking down angles. He's powerful and he can run inside or outside."

Porter already has his AA degree and he'll have three years to play two once he signs his letter-of-intent.
