JUCO DT still looking for a home

Foothill DT Joape Pela (6-2, 300) continues to get it done in the classroom, hauling in an Academic Award from his school for a 3.6 GPA last quarter and he wants it to be known he will be done in July. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented interior defensive lineman and he updated us on recruiting as well as what his plans are...

"I've been making a lot of progress and just hitting the books as hard as I can," Pela told JCFootball.com recently. "My goal was to always get out in July so I could have four years to play three and I'm definitely on pace to do that."

Pela is an explosive defensive tackle prospect, posting 45 tackles, 14 tackles-for-loss and five sacks in his only year at Foothill.

"I can do whatever a team needs me to do," Pela said late last month. "I can play the three-technique or one-technique or even play end because I did that at Foothill. I just want to play, so it doesn't matter to me."

On the recruiting front things have continued to be pretty quiet for him, but he said he isn't discouraged.

"I have San Jose State who called and wanted my film and transcripts and Hawaii has been keeping in touch, but it hasn't been too busy really," Pela said. "I'm not real frustrated because I think I just have to keep getting the word out that I will be able to get out this summer and if I can do that then a lot of teams will probably look at me."

We'll continue to track Pela's progress over the coming weeks and months and update things as they happen.
