Frieson still waiting for an opportunity

Bakersfield RB Bruce Frieson (5-9, 195) had an outstanding season for the Renegades in 2008 and is still unsigned, however he may have the chance to re-sign with the school that offered him a full-scholarship out of high school. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented runner and he updated us on things…

"I was a partial-qualifier so I greyshirted at Toledo," Frieson admitted on Sunday afternoon. "When I was having trouble getting in and succeeding, they suggested I come out here to play JC ball and I'm glad I did because I've learned a lot."

As a sophomore in 2008, the talented runner managed to rush for over 1,400 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Renegades and he used his 4.4 speed and explosiveness to be one of the top backs in the country.

"I'm a slasher-back," Frieson noted. "I think I'm explosive and when I get in space I can used my quickness and my elusiveness to hurt a defense."

Since he signed with Toledo, Frieson is hoping to possibly return there and he's hoping to hear from the coaches soon.

"I just got them my film and I'm hoping things work out," Frieson said. "I'm still open to going anywhere, but if things work out with Toledo then that is where I'll head.

"I got offered by Idaho State on my visit up there, but right now I want to wait and see what happens with D-1 schools."

Frieson will finish his AA degree in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.

We'll continue to track his progress over the coming weeks and months and update things as they happen.
