Gaisie finishing up at Mt. SAC

Given Washington's woeful pass defense in 2008 it's no wonder they went after Mt. San Antonio CB Dominique Gaisie (5-10, 170). The talented cover-corner has been hard at work in the classroom trying to get enough credits so that he can enroll at his new school. JCFootball.com caught up with Gaisie and he updated us on things and where he stands in his quest to play D-1 football...

"I'm taking my classes right now and at the end of spring quarter, I will have 61 credits," Gaisie told JCFootball.com. "To get into Washington, I have to have 72, so I've got to stay here and take some summer classes in order to get it all done.

"I've got a 2.6 GPA so I'm fine academically, I just needed to take enough classes that would transfer to get in there and that's what I'm finishing up.

"I'll be up there in late July."

Gaisie was a pupil of new Husky corners coach Demetrice Martin while at Mt. San Antonio and the two have been talking daily about things.

"I get updates from him every day," Gaisie said. "I get the play sheets, the workout sheets and stuff and he tells me how the one-on-ones and seven-on-sevens are going and how the guys are doing at getting things down.

"He's excited about what they have, but he said he's just getting guys out there to compete and see where they fit into the different schemes and stuff like that."

As a sophomore in 2008, Gaisie managed to post 71 tackles, four interceptions and 13 passes defensed while almost averaging 20.3 yards per kickoff return and 13.2 yards per punt return in 12 games.

We'll continue to track Gaisie's progress over the coming months and update things as needed.
