Everett decides to transfer to Hinds

Because he wanted to be closer to home, former Butler DT Marty Everett (6-4, 295) has decided to enroll at Hinds and will play there this fall. JCFootball.com caught up with the athletic defensive lineman and he updated us on things including how recruiting has progressed over the past few months...

Everett signed with North Carolina State after a standout career at South Sumter High School in Bushnell, Florida but was unable to qualify so he headed to Butler, however he just never felt very comfortable in Kansas.

"The program there is great, but I just never felt at home," Everett said. "I talked it over with my parents and actually we just got back from Mississippi and I've decided to go to Hinds this fall."

Butler is an athletic player, posting a sub 5.0 forty time this spring while squating over 500 pounds and benching 350.

As far as recruiting is concerned, Everett was just starting to see schools pick up the pace when he decided to leave the Grizzlies.

"I know a lot of schools came out to our practices and the coaches were telling me they were asking for my transcripts and film," Everett said. "I just need to make sure they all know I haven't quit football, but that I'm somewhere else and once I do that I think I'll start to see some offers come in."

We'll check back with Everett in the coming weeks and months and update news as it happens.
