Three offers on the table for Rouse

Trinity Valley College has plenty of skill position players that are getting D-1 attention and WR Jeremy Rouse (5-11, 175) is one that already has three offers to his name. caught up with the speedy wideout and he updated us on things including what originally led him from the Sunshine State to TVC in the first place...

Rouse prepped at Apopka High School in Florida, which is one of the top football programs in the Sunshine State. However, he didn't get much guidance from people on what he needed to do to get qualified for a D-1 scholarship.

"Our coaches there really didn't do much in the way of helping us understand what we had to do to get qualified," Rouse told "They didn't tell us what classes to take or how to go through the Clearinghouse, so I was sorta on my own and it just didn't happen.

"My mom works for another high school and she knew one of the coaches there and he knew about Trinity, so he told them about me and when they came in and said they wanted me, well I just felt comfortable and when your school is payed for and you don't have to worry about things other than school and football, well that was a situation I thought would be best for me."

As a freshman in 2008, Rouse played both the slot and outside for the Cardinals, posting seven receptions for 81 yards while also contributing on special teams as a gunner, using his 4.39 speed to block punts, and a kickoff returner.

"Because of my speed and quickness, they move me around a little," Rouse said about the Cardinal offense. "We have a lot of talented receivers, so it's all about competing and getting out there and making plays when you have the opportunity."

Recruiting hit a fever-pitch during the spring with Rouse hauling in three offers from non-BCS programs, but some BCS schools could be close to extending an offer to the talented wideout.

"UAB and North Texas offered me a few weeks ago and Southern Miss just came this week," Rouse said. "Kansas State has really been recruiting me hard and Mississippi State, Utah and Iowa State have all been recruiting me pretty steadily and they seem like they could be close to offering me.

"Ole Miss, TCU, New Mexico and Louisville are all recruiting me too, but they don't seem as serious right now as they other ones."

Rouse noted he is on pace to finish up his two-year degree in May and will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.

We'll have more from Rouse down the road as recruiting heats up this fall and we will update things as they happen.
