Poole gets Pac 10 offer

After a solid freshman season, Santa Ana LB Blake Poole (6-4, 230) received All-Conference honors for his efforts. This preseason he's already been named to a few All-American lists and one Pac 10 school has taken notice and extended a scholarship offer to him and more could be on the way in the future...

Poole prepped at Esperanza High School in southern California and didn't quite take his studies seriously.

"I kinda goofed around and just didn't get it done," Poole admitted to JCFootball.com recently. "I've got that all straight now and I've been doing well, so it's something I have a handle on now.

"The coaches here at Santa Ana work with us to make sure we get everything we need done so we can have a chance to move on to the next level."

Poole played outside linebacker for the Dons in 2008, posting 80 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles while earning All-Conference honors.

"I can run well and I have good instincts," Poole said. "I flow to the ball well and I feel like I can make plays against he run or the pass."

Poole's athleticism and instincts intrigued one Pac 10 school enough to extend an early offer, but other schools have also taken notice.

"Oregon State offered me about three weeks ago," Poole said. "They want me to play inside, but I could play outside too. It will probably depend on the situation and some other stuff.

"California, Arizona State and Arizona have all been showing me a lot of interest as well and Fresno State has shown me a little bit too.

"I thought about committing real quick after the offer came, but I decided to wait and to take some official visits before I make a big decision like that. I'm definitely still open to everyone and I want to weigh my options before I commit somewhere."

Poole is on pace to graduate next May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
