One offer on the table for Foothill's Thomas

After an outstanding freshman season in 2008, Foothill LB Jeff Thomas (6-0, 240) is ready to build on that to have an even better 2009. JCFootball.com got in touch with the talented linebacker and he updated us on things including which school has already extended him an offer.

"I have an offer from New Mexico State right now," Thomas told JCFootball.com recently. "I'm getting a bunch of letters from some other schools and Arizona and BYU have both been talking to me, but they haven't offered me yet."

In 2008, Thomas racked up over 70 tackles and posted three interceptions and earned First Team All-Conference honors and All-State consideration while never leaving the field when the defense was on the field.

"Usually middle linebackers come out on passing downs, but I didn't," Thomas said. "I can run well and I drop into coverage and into my zone well so that helps me against the pass."

After an outstanding career at Serra High School in San Mateo Thomas was going to walk-on at San Jose State, but he decided to go the JC-route instead.

"I just felt I could earn a scholarship and Foothill presented a great opportunity to get some exposure toward that goal," Thomas noted. "I've been really happy here and the coaches here are great. I love it here and have really enjoyed my time here."

Since he was a full-qualifier out of high school, Thomas will be able to sign in December with a school and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.

We'll have more on Thomas down the road as he gets closer to setting up his visits and report that when it happens.
