Ransom gets ready to set first official visit

Blinn WR Dexter Ransom (6-4, 217) is one of the most physically imposing JUCO wideouts in the country. He already has quite a few offers to his name from schools across the country and he's getting ready to set up his first official visit after taking two unofficial visits this summer. Who will he visit first? Read on to find out...

Playing on a team loaded with sophomore wideouts, Ransom still used his impressive size/speed combo to post 36 receptions for 735 yards and 10 touchdowns as a freshman last fall.

This year he plans on being an even bigger threat for the always potent Buccaneer offense.

"I can go deep or go across the middle with my size," Ransom told JCFootball.com. "I'm probably at my best catching a pass and then running with it. I feel confident I can make plays any way a school needs me to do it.

"I've worked hard this summer, trying to get quicker and more explosive. I also wanted to get stronger and be a better blocker. That's all about effort and it's something I've worked on this summer."

Recruiting hit a fever-pitch early on for Ransom as offers flowed in from schools across the country including Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, California, Akron, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Utah, Tulsa, and UAB and the talented wideout has begun to narrow things down just a bit, but he's not ready to name a leader at this point.

"Arizona is the school I want to visit first," Ransom said. "They have a good program and I know a couple of guys up there already. I'm trying to set up a visit with them for September 5th so I can see them for their first game of the season. We have a Thursday game that week so I can play that and then head out the next day for my visit.

"Other than that I really haven't thought about the other four visits yet. I'd like to visit Utah, they're a great program and I have some friends there too and I've visited both Oklahoma State and Baylor already and those programs interest me a lot with their offenses and who they have there already."

Ransom and the Bucs begin practice on Wednesday in preparation for their opening game against National Power Butler at home on August 29th.

We'll have more on him as he gets closer to finalizing his official visit plans with both Arizona and the other schools on his list.
