Suel still waiting on first offer

He's one of the more dynamic receivers in the California JUCO ranks, but Allan Hancock WR Marquelo Suel (6-3, 195) is still waiting on his first official offer. caught up with the talented wideout recently and he updated us on recruiting as well as what he's been focused on this summer to make him a better all around receiver...

"Last year I was mainly an outside guy, but I played inside as well," Suel told "I really wanted to focus on dropping my hips and setting up my routes better so that I could be quicker out of my breaks. That will really help me get separation from the DBs that are going up against me and make me a better route-runner."

Last season Suel used his 4.45 speed and ideal receiver frame to haul in 36 receptions for 626 yards and four touchdowns.

With that type of production one might assume schools would be clammoring to extend him an offer, but that hasn't been the case thus far.

"Right now I'm not hearing a lot from schools," Suel said. "I've gotten some letters from Iowa State, Kansas State and Ball State and I've gotten a few things from UCLA too, but the schools recruiting me earlier really haven't been in touch with me at all.

"I just use it as motivation and I know that if I take care of what I can take care of, both on the field and off of it, then that's all I can do and hopefully someone offers me."

Suel prepped at Paul Harding High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, so he'd love to return to the Midwest, but he isn't averse to staying out west or going anywhere to continue his football career.

"I just want to find a place to call home and where I feel comfortable," Suel said. "I'd love to go back and be close to home, but if it worked out better for me to stay out here on the west coast, I have no problem doing that."

Suel will finish up his AA degree in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
