Ellsworth's Robinson focused on season

He's already received a nomination as by the NJCAA as a preseason All-American, but Ellsworth WR Quintin Robinson (6-3, 190) isn't letting that recognition go to his head. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented wideout recently and he updated us on things including what he's been doing since we last spoke with him...

"I hit the books and the weights hard this offseason," Robinson told JCFootball.com as he was relaxing following fall camp. "I wanted to get stronger and I put in the time in the weight room. My strength still isn't where I want it to be, but I've gained a lot and that should help me this fall."

If Robinson, who has ideal size for a wide receiver, has gotten stronger, opposing defenses should watch out. He combined with All-American QB Tirrell Rennie to post 97 receptions for 1,223 yards and 13 touchdowns while helping to lead Ellsworth to an 8-3 record, a Region XI Championship and a final ranking of 16th in the NJCAA final poll.

On the recruiting front Wyoming was the first school to step forward with an offer, but schools like Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Kansas, Iowa State, LSU, Arizona State and many others have stated they are keeping a close eye on how he starts the 2009 season.

"They have all just said they want to see how I start the season," Robinson said. "They want to see how much bigger I've gotten and how I've improved my route-running and stuff like that. I've also been running 4.4's, so they want to see what my speed is like too.

"I'm not frustrated. I'm just worried about my season. I know I'm going to take a few visits before I make a commitment, so I can wait and be patient. I just want the chance to play ball and I think that I will have that chance."

Robinson said he is on pace to finish his AA degree in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
