Cerritos Tyrone Taylor Under the Radar

Cerritos has plenty of talent on their roster this fall, but one of the better freshman they have coming in is CB Tyrone Taylor (6-0, 170) who is set to start at one of the corner positions. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented DB recently and he noted that he was a late qualifier so he's hoping some schools take a chance and offer him so he can sign with them after this season...

"I got a late qualifying score on my SAT, so schools had sorta moved on by the time I qualified," Taylor told JCFootball.com. "I'm not sure what is going to happen, but right now I'm here at Cerritos and really loving it here. The coaches are great and I really like the system we run."

Taylor prepped at Narbonne High School in Harbor City, Ca. and was a standout there, posting 50 tackles and five interceptions as a senior leader on a team that went 12-1-1.

Now he's set to start outside for Cerritos and he's looking forward to the challenge of facing some of the top JUCO talent in the country on a weekly basis.

"That's why you play ball down here," Taylor said. "In practice we face off against some great receivers and that helps get us ready for the guys we face every week. It's going to be a lot of fun this year because if you're not ready to compete you can look foolish out here. I'm looking forward to it."

Recruiting has been on the back-burner for Taylor since he's been focused on getting ready for the season, but he said several schools have made it known they will have their eyes on him this fall.

"San Diego State, Boise State, Utah, Arizona and Arizona State have been the schools sending me stuff and talking to me," Taylor said. "I don't have any offers yet, but I think that's because schools don't know I'm available yet. Once they find out I can sign after this season, then I think things will pick up."

Should Taylor sign with a school after this season he will have four years to play three once he steps on campus.

We'll continue to keep track of Taylor's progress this fall and update things as they happen.
