Trinity Valley RB Chad Winbush on Roll

Trinity Valley RB Chad Winbush (6-1, 200) received Preseason All-American honors and so far this season, he's doing everything he can to prove those who nominated him right. He's helped lead TVC to a 2-0 record and while he's committed to Southern Miss already, he said he's still keeping an open mind when it comes to recruiting...

Winbush was a standout running back at DeSoto High School in Texas but was unable to get a qualifying score on the SAT so he headed to Trinity Valley and he couldn't be happier.

"This place has been great," Winbush told JCFootball.com recently. "I've been able get my grades where they need to be and I've gotten stronger and faster. I've also learned a lot about different things and just worked on my game a lot.

"The coaches here work us hard and they are really good at what they do. I felt real comfortable here with them and the other players. I'm glad I'm here."

As a freshman last season, Winbush notched over 800 yards and nine touchdowns and two games into the season, he's already over 250 yards and three touchdowns. Because of his size, speed (4.4) and productivity, he was named a First Team Preseason All-American.

Winbush made a quick decision when he committed to UAB back in the spring, but he said he's keeping an open mind with the schools who are still recruiting him.

"Southern Miss treated me well," Winbush said. "They were the first to offer me and believe in me, so I committed and I really think it's a great situation there for me, but I'm not going to completely close it down.

"Tennessee is real high on me and Iowa State told me they wanted to offer, but they wanted to watch me a few weeks this season."

Winbush is on pace to graduate in December and he'll have three years to play two following the season.
