Mendocino's Roberts off to a great start

Mendocino WR Ricky Roberts (5-10,178) got his season off to a great start this past weekend, posting eight catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns vs. Hartnell. The last time we spoke with him he hadn't received much in the way of recruiting attention, but now that his season is underway, more schools have started calling and one in particular has made it known they like what they see in him...

"Middle Tennessee started talking to me during the summer with letters and stuff," Roberts told JCFootball.com recently. "Then they started calling me and now we've been talking pretty regularly. They said they like me a lot and how I play and that I would fit in great into their offense.

"My coaches also told me there are a few schools that have started calling them about me and we're going to get some tape out to them real soon so things are picking up a little bit."

This past weekend, in Mendocino's first game of the season, Roberts posted eight catches for 110 yars and two touchdowns in a route of Hartnell.

"It definitely was a good start for me and for our team," Roberts said. "We have Shasta this weekend and we just have to stay focused, but I think we have a great chance to be strong this year and we'll see what happens."

Roberts also changd his number this year, moving from the 12 to the number one this fall.

He's still on pace to graduate with his AA degree in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
