Chaffey's Jahmel Rover shows he's back

Chaffey RB Jahmel Rover (5-9, 210) had a lot to prove this year after missing the entire 2008 season with a knee injury and so far this season he's shown he's back to his old elusive, hard-running self. caught up with the talented JUCO back recently and he updated us on how things are coming along this season...

"Things have gone okay so far this year," Rover told "After the first three games I was averaging 115 yards per game, but this past game we had some issues running it, so I'm not averaging that anymore.

"We've sorta struggled at the QB spot, because we have some young guys there, but we're getting it figured out and I think things will smooth out as we go along."

Rover said the schools recruiting him before the season are also the ones continuing to show the most interest.

"Kansas and Colorado are both keeping an eye on me," Rover said. "They both wanted to make sure my knee was healthy and stable and they also wanted my transcripts to make sure that was all in order and I think that I've proven to them I'm back.

"Arizona, TCU, UCLA and a few other schools are also keeping in contact with me, but I don't have any offers yet."

Rover plans to major in nursing when he gets to a four-year school and will be able to sign a letter-of-intent in December. He'll have two years to play two wherever he ends up.

We'll continue to keep track of Rover's progress over the remainder of the season and update news as it happens.
