Robinson sets visit to WAC school

Last season, one of the top tacklers in the state of California was Glendale LB Kalii Robinson (6-1, 210) and this year he's already off to a hot start in that arena as well. caught up with the talented defender recently and he updated us on thing including which WAC program recently called and set up an official visit for this coming weekend...

Robinson was a sought-after high school prospect after he finished up a decorated prep career at Dorsey High School in Los Angeles.

"I had some schools looking at me, but I ran out of time to qualify so no one really offered me," Robinson told "Glendale was close to home and I really liked the coaches because I thought they could help me get to the next level."

As a freshman in 2008, Robinson posted 90 tackles, three interceptions, two sacks and five forced fumbles while playing both the strongside and weakside position.

"I react quickly to the ball and I can locate it pretty well," Robinson said. "I like playing both sides so I really don't have a preference. I can do whatever I need to do on either side. I can drop into coverage well or stuff the run or rush the quarterback. It doesn't matter to me."

So far this season, the defensive captain is off to a hot start as well posting 36 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one interception in five games and two D-1 programs have made it known they like what he has to offer with one setting up a visit for this weekend.

"I'm visiting Nevada next weekend (10/10)," Robinson said. "Me and our cornerback, Max Williams, we're both going to visit there.

"I don't have an offer from them, but they made it sound like they could offer me while I was out there visiting with them. They like what I bring to the table and I think I could do well there, but right now it's just in the beginning phases of what will happen."

Also in hot pursuit of Robinson are Arizona and Oregon State.

"They just started calling and talking to me," Robinson noted. "I'm not really sure what's going to happen with them, but they're both in the Pac 10 so that's definitely something that has my attention."

Robinson is pace to finish his AA degree in May of 2010 and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.

We'll keep track of Robinson's progress and update news as it happens.
