Jacques is a patient young man

One of the top JUCO backs in the country that continues to fly under the radar is Butler's Ricky Jacques (6-0, 225). The big, physical back shares duties in the Grizzlies backfield, but he's still managed to put up impressive numbers carrying the rock and while schools seem to be taking a "wait and see" approach with him, he hopes things pick up on the recruiting front as the season moves along...

"Things are going good for us," Jacques told JCFootball.com recently. "We have the week off right now and we're just trying to get healthy and get ready for the stretch run."

So far this season, while splitting carries with two other talented backs, Jacques has managed to post 422 yards on 77 carries for a 5.5 yard average and three touchdowns, leading the team in all three categories.

"I'm happy with things," Jacques said. "I don't get all caught up in that I want a bunch of carries or anything like that. I just take it all in stride. I want as many carries as I can get, but when my number is called, I just try to make the best of what is there."

So far, on the recruiting front, Jacques has only received tepid interest to this point, but he's not fretting.

"I'd love to hear from schools, but right now I'm not directly hearing from anyone," Jacques said. "I really don't care too much right now because we're in our season, but I'd like to know if anyone is looking at me. I think my coaches have talked to some teams, but right now I really don't know much more than that."

As mentioned earlier, Butler had the weekend off, but return next Saturday to take on Independence while preparing for their big regular season finale against unbeated Fort Scott.
