Elder pulls in Pac 10 offer

He's one of the top ballhawks in the California JUCO ranks and earlier this week, San Mateo S Eddie Elder (5-11, 187) got an offer from one of his top schools. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented defender and he updates us on things including his newest offer and when he could be making a decision...

"I just got offered officially by Arizona," Elder told JCFootball.com. "It's really cool I got that offer because I was hoping to have a chance to play in the Pac 10, but I wasn't close to committing or anything.

"I would say I'm leaning toward them, but right now I just want to finish my season and see what other schools are interested enough to offer and then I'll visit some of them and make my decision."

His offer from the Wildcats joins the one he had from New Mexico State over the summer and he's getting heavy interest from California, Missouri, Arkansas and Iowa State.

Elder is having an outstanding season for the Bulldogs, posting 21 tackles and four interceptions, two of which he's returned for touchdowns.

"I actually returned three for TD's, but one of them got called back because of a penalty," Elder said. "I love playing safety because you can see the whole field. I have the speed (4.6) and quickness to play corner, but free safety is fun because I can make plays on the ball when it's in the air.

"When that ball goes up, sometimes I feel like a receiver and I feel like that ball is mine. I will battle for it and most times I can make the play."

Elder still plans to sign with a school in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.

This weekend Elder and his CSM teammates take on Santa Rosa in a big NCFA matchup.
