Grossmont's Charles Wiley shows his patience

At 6-6, 310-pounds, Grossmont OT Charles Wiley is a specimen that has college coaches drooling over the possibilities of what he could add to their offensive lines. However, none have stepped forward with a scholarship offer and because of that, the big man who hails from Tennessee is continuing to show patience in regards to recruiting...

Wiley prepped at Fulton High School in Knoxville, Tennessee and has been hoping to get an offer from the Volunteers. So far that hasn't materialized, but a few other schools seem to be getting close.

"Middle Tennessee is real high on me right now," Wiley told "That's my home state, so that would be real cool to go back home, but they haven't offered me yet.

"Idaho has really started to pick up their recruiting of me. I talk to the coaches there all the time and they just keep saying they are looking at several JC o-linemen and I'm near the top of the list."

In addition to those non-BCS schools, Wiley is close to setting up his first visit with a Pac 10 school.

"Arizona State said they like me a lot," Wiley said. "I've been talking with them about visiting and we're working on setting it up. It's just a matter of finding the right date and when I can get over there to check them out.

"They aren't too far from here so it isn't like I'd have to fly across country to see them. We'll get it set up soon. I'm real interested in them."

Wiley combines with Juan Bolanos to give the Gauchos one of the top tackle-combinations in the country.

"Me and Juan take pride in that," Wiley said. "Our whole offensive line is just really strong and athletic and we know if we get it done, then our offense can make plays and get us some wins."

Grossmont is off to an impressive 7-1 start and has is currently ranked 14th in the JC Grid-wire National Top 25 poll and a lot of that is due to the offensive line which has paved the way for 442 yards of total offense per game.

Wiley is on pace to finish up his AA degree in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
