Brennan Locker is a leader on the field

One of the more underrated linebackers in the California JUCO ranks is Allan Hancock Brennan Locker (6-2, 225) and teams are just now discovering how good he is. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented defender and he updated us on things including what makes him so good at what he does on the football field...

Locker graduated in 2006 from Reno High School in Nevada and figured he would just begin working following his prep career.

However, Locker moved to southern California to live with his father and decided to pick up the game he loved again.

"Hancock was close to home and after I met with coach (Kris) Dutra it was just what I was looking for so I came here and I've been really happy here," Locker said.

Last season, as a freshman seeing his first action in almost two years, Locker finished second on the team with 56 tackles and also had a sack from his strongside (SAM) linebacker position. In year two of his college career, he's been even better leading the team through nine games with 84 tackles, 10.5 tackles-for-loss and four interceptions for a Bulldog team that is now 8-1 and ranked 18th in the JC Grid-wire National Top 25 poll.

"I'm instinctive and I always study and feel like I can make plays against the run or against the pass," Locker said. "One thing I really worked on this past summer was my strength and my conditioning so that I could go all-out the whole game and I think that's really helped me this year."

Recruiting is just now picking up for the tackling machine, but he's still waiting on his first offer.

"Nevada, Utah State, Kansas and Iowa State are the schools that are recruiting me the most right now," Locker said. "I haven't really gotten any indication they are close to offering yet, but they have all just started to come on so I'm hoping something comes soon."

Locker will finish his AA in May and he will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.

This weekend Allan Hancock takes on Ventura.
