Visit to Missouri on tap for Walker

Heading into the season, one of the top JUCO safety prospects in California this season was City College of San Francisco's Kenronte Walker (6-1, 210). Because he can play both corner and safety, the talented defender got offered by Missouri and now that he has a few weeks off before the Rams play in their bowl game, he's ready to set up his official visit to Columbia.

"We don't play for a couple of weeks so I'm probably heading out there this coming weekend," Walker told JCFootball.com. "I want to go meet with the coaches, talk to some of the players and I want to get a feel for the atmosphere there because I've heard it's pretty intense.

"They are playing Iowa State this coming weekend, so that should give me a good idea of what the gameday atmosphere is really like there."

This season Walker has played mainly free safety, but at times he's dropped down over the slot receiver to take that player away as a target for the opposing quarterback.

"I play corner or safety, it just depends on the situation for us defensively or how the offense lines up," Walker said back in June. "I love playing safety, but corner is great too. If the offense comes out in three or four wide, then I can drop down and play the slot or even go out wide."

This season he's made 37 tackles and broken up four passes following up his freshman season that saw him post 36 tackles, five passes defensed, two sacks and one interception while starting five games.

Besides the offer from Missouri, Walker said he's still hearing from schools like Southern Miss, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Arizona State, Clemson, Houston and South Carolina as well.

Walker is on pace to sign with a school in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
