9 Long Beach CC Vikings Sign LOIs

Nine Long Beach City College Vikings have signed national letters of intent to continue their collegiate athletic and academic careers at four-year universities. First-team All-Mission Conference offensive lineman John Drake will stay local and play for his hometown favorite USC next season.

Another first-team all-conference lineman, Noah Pouono, will head to the Central Valley and compete for Fresno State. Both are expected to immediately challenge for a starting spot on their respective squads.

All-conference defensive lineman Paueli Tamasoa and linebacker Brady Parkhurst will be playing at the University of Utah. Another pair of teammates, Harry Filo and Seth Tago, will both compete at Sacramento State in 2003.

Ray Tago, a 2001 second-team All-Mission Conference defensive lineman, narrowed his choices down from Cal and Oregon and will play for the Ducks next season in Eugene. Defensive back Markeith Chidlress will take his talents to the Big 12 next year, playing for Kansas University. Also, defensive lineman Sagan Atuatasi will head to the University of Buffalo for the 2003 season.

All-American running back Craig Richardson, along with nine others, including quarterback Brandon Fasavalu, are expected to sign letters of intent before the April 1 deadline. Richardson, LBCC's all-time leading rusher and Mission Conference Northern Division Offensive Player of the Year, is being heaving recruited by the University of Oregon. Wide receiver Darren Ross (Alabama) and defensive back Foli Clement (Illinois) are also being recruited by prominent national programs.
