Henry pulls in first offer

Heading into this season College of Dupage S Trulon Henry (6-1, 225) was a player to keep an eye on and he didn't disappoint, posting an All-Conference season while helping lead the Chaparrals to a 5-5 record. Earlier this week the talented DB got his first offer and he said more schools have called about acquiring his services...

"I got an offer earlier this week from Illinois," Henry told JCFootball.com. "It wasn't a huge surprise to me because they've been recruiting me for a while, but it was a relief to get the offer."

Henry's younger brother is Illini WR Arrelious Benn, so he said he knows that program forward and backward.

"I've been up there so many times and I know the coaches and the program so well, I'm not going to take an official visit there," Henry said. "I'll use my five visits to see schools that I don't know that well and then make my decision."

So who might some of those schools be?

Henry noted that Oregon State just called his coaches and asked for film and his transcripts to see what he has to offer.

"Other than them, it's pretty much the same schools recruiting me that were before," Henry noted. "Oregon is still looking at me, Arizona, Kansas and maybe one or two others, but really those are the ones recruiting me right now."

As a freshman last year, Henry had 96 tackles and one interception after not playing the game for five years due to some legal troubles (link to the story) and this year he followed that up by posting 87 tackles, four interceptions and five sacks.

"I've gotten in the flow and really feel comfortable playing ball now," Henry said. "I was mainly at strong safety," Henry said. "They put me down there and I played the run really well, but I worked on my pass coverage and drops and stuff like that and that area is really started to come for me pretty well too."

Because of the work he's done in the classroom, Henry is on pace to graduate in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
