Things are heating up for Jacobson

One of the top JUCO offensive line prospects in California this season has been Gavilan's Wade Jacobson (6-6, 300). The athletic lineman was a full-qualifier out of high school and had an offer from North Carolina to play for the Tar Heels this season. However, he decided to remain with the Rams to work on his technique and now a handful of schools are showing him interest...

"Things are going good for me as far as recruiting is concerned," Jacobson told recently. "I have offers from Washington State, Nevada, San Jose State and San Diego State right now and Arizona has told me they will probably offer me on my visit when I go down there."

Jacobson's stock started to soar as the season went along and, in addition to the schools who have offered or said they will, he's also seeing heavy interest from Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona State and Auburn among others.

"Schools really like my athleticism and my size," Jacobson said. "The Washington State coaches said they really like my lateral quickness and others have said they could see me playing on either side of the line."

This season Gavilan didn't have a great record, but individually Jacobson was outstaning grading out at 85% while posting over 70 pancakes and being named the top lineman in his league and earning All-Conference honors as well.

"I think I've improved a lot from where I was last year at this time," Jacobson said. "I was small when I got here. I only weighed like 220 or 230 pounds, but I got convinced by the coaches here at Gavilan to give it a try and I guess I really took to it.

"I love to play the game and the competition. I never thought I would get this far with it, but now that I have, I want to take it as far as I can."

Jacobson is an outstanding student and because he was a full-qualifier out of high school he can sign with a school during the early signing period which begins on December 21st. Because of his short time frame to make a decision, he will be cramming in visits over the next few weeks planning trips to Washington State this coming weekend (Dec. 4th - 6th), Nevada December 7th through the 10th and then will likely be in Tuscon to visit Arizona next weekend (December 11th - 13th).

We'll continue to keep track of Jacobson and update news as it breaks regarding his situation.
