Things begin to heat up for Rennie

After leading his team to the postseason two-straight years, Ellsworth QB Tirrell Rennie (5-11, 200) is finally starting to see recruiting pick up. caught up with the talented signal-caller and he updated us on things including which two Big 12 schools have shown him interest...

"I was at Alabama State this weekend and they offered me," Rennie told Sunday evening. "It was a really good visit and it was my first one so I'm looking at visiting a couple of other schools here over the next week or so and then I will make my decision."

Rennie has scheduled his second visit this weekend for Northern Iowa and he said the Panther coaches have told him they plan to offer as well.

"They really like me, but they want to get me on campus and visit with me in person before they offer," Rennie said. "Other than that, Iowa State has been talking to me a lot and just this past week Oklahoma called me so I got my film out to them and they said they would be talking to me this week to let me know where I stand.

"I want to sign with a school this month and December 16th is when I'm planning to do that so I need to get this stuff all done so I can sign and that's what I'm letting everyone know right now."

Rennie had an outstanding season for Ellsworth, hitting on 60.9% of his passes for 2,863 yards, 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions while leading the team with 1,025 yards and 10 touchdowns rushing as well.

"We had a great season, but I think it could have been better," Rennie said. "We finished 8-3 and beat Central Lakes 64-7 in our bowl game so, it was successful, but it would have been great to get a couple of more wins and possibly play for a championship."

Wherever Rennie signs, he'll have three years to play two once he steps on campus. We'll continue to keep close tabs on him as the recruiting process winds down and he gets closer to making his decision.
