El Camino's Aderious Simmons makes his mark

His teammate just committed to Arizona State this past weekend, but El Camino OL Aderious Simmons (6-7, 280) isn't going to let that affect his decision on which school he plans to attend. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented offensive line prospect and he updated us on things including which three schools have offered and why he headed west to play JUCO ball...

Simmons was a prep basketball standout at Ehret High School in Marrero, Louisiana, but when he graduated he decided he wanted to play some football, so the University of Miami coaching staff directed him to El Camino.

"I talked to them and they were like 'if you want to play the best JUCO ball you can, El Camino is the place to go'," Simmons told JCFootball.com recently. "I wasn't a qualifier, so this was the best move for me. I could come out here, work on school and how to play football and because Elco is so good at producing D-1 players, I had a chance to earn some big offers."

Those offers have come for the talented athlete who played left tackle for the Warriors the past two seasons.

"I have offers from Utah, San Diego State and Arizona State," Simmons said. "I visited San Diego State this past weekend (12/4 - 12/6) and it was good, but I want to see ASU this weekend (12/11 - 12/13) and check them out before I make a decision.

"My teammate Chris DeArmas just committed to ASU this weekend, so it's a place that I would already know someone, but I have to make my decision for me."

Simmons noted that schools like New Mexico, New Mexico State, Utah State and UNLV have all made contact as well, but because he plans to sign with is month, he's pretty much narrowed things down to the Aztecs and Sun Devils.

"I took classes at Pasadena back in 2007, so I'll be ready to sign on the 16th (of December)," Simmons noted. "I'm just looking for the right opportunity and a place I can feel comfortable.

"I've already used my redshirt, so I need to find a place that has playing time available because I will only have two years to play ball."

We'll check back with Simmons in the very near future as he gets closer to making a commitment.
