Gauld commits to the Aztecs

He had an outstanding season for Allen Hancock this year, but OT Riley Gauld (6-5, 285) didn't take his first official visit until this weekend. While he was on his official visit to San Diego State, he decided that the Aztecs where the right program for him and he spoke with JCFootball.com Tuesday night to fill us in on why he decided to end recruiting now…

"I committed to San Diego State this past weekend," Gauld told JCFootball.com. "It was a bunch of little things that let me know it was the right school for me.

"Ryan Lindley, the quarterback, was my host and he'd been there when the last coaches were there and now with this new staff and he said the feeling is so much different. He said these are the best coaches he's ever had and that they can do some good things down the road."

Gauld chose the Aztec over an offer from Nevada and was getting some interest form schools like New Mexico State and UNLV.

"I was supposed to visit Nevada this weekend, but I called them and cancelled," Gauld said. "It's the best situation for me to go to San Diego State. I'll be happy there."

Gauld will sign with the Aztecs on December 16th and he will have three years to play two once he steps on campus.
