Grossmont's Wiley talks recruiting

Teams are always looking for talented offensive line prospects to plug into their systems and one of the best unsigned linemen in California right now is Grossmont OT Charles Wiley (6-6, 310). Four-year programs have been flocking to southern California to get a look at the athletically gifted blocker, but at this point only one D-1A school has extended an offer...

"Things have been going good so far," Wiley told recently. "I've just been patient with things, but I hope it starts picking up a bit before it gets too close to signing day (February 3rd).

"I have offers from Eastern Michigan, Alcorn State, Liberty, Georgia State, Morgan State, Texas Southern, Abilene Christian and a few other schools."

Wiley took an official visit to Liberty last weekend and said he almost committed.

"When they offer you and you have a great time, you really do think about committing," Wiley admitted. "But I wanted to get home and think about things and I don't want to end things too early because I still have my visit to Eastern Michigan the first weekend (players can visit) of January that I want to take before I really start thinking about making my decision."

Besides the offers from Eastern Michigan, Wiley said he's gotten the attention of schools like New Mexico State, New Mexico, San Diego State, Oregon State and UNLV, but no offers have been forthcoming.

"I guess they needed to see more of me," Wiley said. "I'm just focused on the schools that have offered right now, but I'll look at anyone that wants to offer me and would like me to come on a visit."

Wiley combined with San Diego State signee Juan Bolanos to form one of the best tackle tandems in the country this year and said he feels like he can do it all when it comes to holding down the left edge.

"I have good feet so I can pass-block well," Wiley said. "I really feel like my run-blocking has come along nicely, so I think I can do whatever a team needs me to do."

Wiley said he plans to sign with a team on February 3rd and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
