Reedley's Daniels waits patiently for offers

While he might be waiting patiently for recruiting to pick up, Reedley DE Jimmy Daniels (6-2, 266) isn't a player that waits for the offense to come to him. This season, the talented pass-rusher was relentless while leading the Tigers to a 6-5 record and a bid in the playoffs...

Daniels enjoyed an outstanding prep career in Georgia, but wasn't able to qualify. Once he knew he had to go the JUCO route, the talented pass-rusher figured he needed to head to the Golden State to get a fresh start.

"My coach in high school, he already knew some people out here and some of my former teammates were already here," Daniels told JCFootball.com recently. "It was a lot different coming out here from Georgia, but it was good. I needed the change and it allowed me to focus on the important things like school and football."

Daniels played the strong defensive end position in the Tigers' scheme, amassing 45 tackles and eight sacks as a freshman and following that up with a solid sophomore campaign that saw him total 75 tackles and six sacks.

"Last year, I mainly was a rotation guy," Daniels said. "This year, I started and I felt like I had a good year and my coaches said they thought I did too."

Even with those numbers, teams have been slow to notice him as only two have made contact since the spring.

"Basically, the only schools to contact me right now are Iowa State and Indiana State," Daniels said. "I feel like I can play at the highest level, but someone just needs to give me a chance.

"I can play the run or pass well. I think I'm probably a little better at the run because of my motor and how hard I work. I also bench 375 pounds and I run a 4.8, so I feel like I can do it all."

Daniels is on pace to finish up his coursework in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
