It's Illinois for Henry

It's been a poorly kept secret that College of Dupage S Trulon Henry (6-2, 215) was favoring Illinois, but it wasn't until last week that he made things official. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented defensive back and he updated us on things including why he decided on the Illini...

"I committed to them sometime last week," Henry told JCFootball.com. "Illinois was the school that had been on me for a while and with my brother (Arrelious Benn) already there I had a real inside look with them.

"With other schools, they can put on a great show. All the coaches can smile and say one thing, but when you sign with them or you get there, things are completely different.

"With Illinois, I got to see so much of the program and felt a real comfort level with things there. That's why they were the program for me."

According to Henry, the Illini coaches want him as a strong safety.

"I can play anywhere, but my strength is down in the box," Henry said. "Most every school looking at me wanted me as a strong safety so that's where I'm going to play."

This year Henry posted 97 tackles and four interceptions after racking up 96 tackles and one pick as a freshman in 2008.

Henry is mature beyond his years after dealing with some off-field trouble and that's why there was a delay in his commitment.

"The Disciplinary Board at Illinois wanted to make sure I wasn't a risk and to review everything," Henry said. "Because of my past they just wanted to make sure on things so essentially I had to be accepted to the school twice."

Henry will have three years to play two once he arrives.
