Suel has game, will travel

The past two years, Allan Hancock WR Marquelo Suel (6-3, 195) has been one of the top wideouts in the California JUCO ranks. However, he is still waiting on his first offer, but he's hopeful that come spring at least one D-1 school will take a chance on him.

"Marquelo is just an outstanding player," Hancock head coach Kris Dutra told JCFootball.com recently. "The guy is all of the 6'3" we have him listed at and he's a great receiver. He's tough and he makes plays. Honestly, I'm just shocked no one has taken a closer look at him."

As a freshman in 2008, Suel put up solid numbers, posting 36 receptions for 626 yards and four touchdowns and this past season he was a monster hauling in 56 receptions for 800 yards and 12 touchdowns.

"I was First Team All-Conference playing for a team that ran the ball a lot," Suel said with a bit of a chuckle. "I mean, we were conservative offensively, but when I got the chance to make plays, I took advantage."

Suel said Nevada and Utah both showed him quite a bit of interest during the season, but because he was short a math class, they backed off.

"Nevada has told me they still like me, but they wanted to make sure I was set before they offered," Suel said. "I'll be done this summer, early on, so I'm hoping some school sees me and likes me enough to take a chance on me. If they do, they won't be disappointed."

When Suel finishes up this summer, he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
