CCSF safety prospect is one to watch

City College of San Francisco is always loaded with talented players and this year S Deshon Marman (6-0, 205) is a player to keep an eye on. He's got the skills to play either in-the-box or deep in the secondary and because of that versatility he's got four-year schools showing him some early attention...

Marman prepped at nearby Abraham Lincoln High School and headed to CCSF because his friend, RB David Henderson, was already there.

"He said it was a great place to be, so I just decided that I would give it a shot," Marman told recently. "The coaches here are really great and the program they have here is second to none. I love it and I feel like they are getting me ready for the next level, wherever that is."

Last season as a freshman, Marman finished third on the team with 56 tackles and posted one interception, which he returned 86 yards for a touchdown, as well as two passes defensed.

"I have good speed and stuff, but this summer I really want to increase my range," Marman noted. "I'm working on my reads and not wasting motion when changing direction so I can make plays better.

"I'm good at supporting the run, but I also want to get even better at playing downhill and coming up hard," Marman said.

Recruiting has just gotten started for the talented DB, but he's hearing from a couple four-year schools.

"The only two who have directly contacted me is Washington and UNLV," Marman said. "They send me letters and stuff. As far as other schools, I think they are talking to my coaches, but I don't know who they are right now."

Marman is on pace to get his AA degree in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
