Nassau's OT is a physical specimen

Nassau typically produces quite a bit of D-1 talent year-in and year-out and this fall recruitniks can expect one of their top prospects to be OT Zenel Demhasaj (6-6, 315), an athletic player who will hold down the blindside for his quarterback this fall even though he's projected to play on the right side…

"Our quarterback this fall is going to be left-handed, so I'm going to be at right tackle to keep people off of him," Demhasaj told recently. "Last year, I started the season at right tackle and then our center went down, so they moved me inside and Justin Robbins, who signed with New Mexico, ended up starting at right tackle the rest of the year.

"It was tough facing guys a lot shorter than me and getting used to snapping the ball, but I did it and the coaches said they thought I did pretty well. I will say this though, I'm glad I'm back at tackle now."

Demhasaj possesses the ideal size and athleticism to be a standout on either side of the line, depending on the need of the school where he signs, but at this point no schools have been in contact.

"Honestly, no schools have talked to me yet," Demhasaj said. "I'm open to anyone that wants to recruit me and my coaches have told me just to be patient. They said my athleticism is what sets me apart and I feel like I'm probably a better pass-blocker than run-blocker, but I feel like I've improved in both areas and I can do well with wherever a team needs me."

The talented lineman prepped at nearby New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, New York and was a non-qualifier according to the NCAA Clearinghouse.

"Nassau was close to home, but that wasn't the main reason I came here," Demhasaj said. "It's a great school and a great program. They do really well getting guys D-1 scholarships so that was a big reason I wanted to come here and also because it's a good school all the way around."

Demhasaj is on pace to graduate in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
