Three offers on the table for Pierce's Ingram

Early in the 2011 recruiting cycle, L.A. Pierce TE Nate Ingram (6-3, 245) is becoming a coveted prospect. He already has three offers to his name and several more schools appear close to extending full-rides. caught up with the gifted prospect recently and he updated us on things...

Ingram was a standout football player as a prep back in New Jersey and was a non-qualifer. He enrolled at Nassau during the summer of 2009, but a friend of his got him to look west and he ended up at Pierce.

"My friend, Tyron Harris, was already enrolled here as a receiver and he said I should come out and play out here," Ingram told "It's been a lot different out here and getting used to it took a little while. I'm still getting acclimated to things here, but it's all good."

Last fall, as a freshman for a team that went 7-4 and lost in the first-round of the playoffs to State Champion Mt. San Antonio, Ingram finished second on the team with 39 receptions for 398 yards and two touchdowns.

"If I had to choose one thing I'm good at, I think I'm probably a better receiver than blocker, but I've really improved in that respect too," Ingram said. "Just getting stronger and getting better technique has helped me and my coaches say I'm a good blocker for my size.

"I'm just working on my strength this offseason and becoming more explosive. I run a 4.6, so my speed is pretty good for my size, but I want to get stronger and quicker for sure."

On the recruiting front, three teams have extended offers to Ingram and more could be on the way soon.

"New Mexico State has offered me and so have Texas Southern and Tennessee State," Ingram said. "Iowa, Arizona, UCLA, Oregon State and Kansas State have all been talking to me and they said after they do evaluations this spring they could be offering, but right now nothing is official with any of them."

Ingram is on pace to get his AA degree in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
