Hancock running back can do it all

One of the more successful runners in the California JUCO ranks last year was Allan Hancock RB Ryan Anglin (6-1, 205), a bruising back who can make plays in-between the tackles or on the edge. He put up solid numbers as a freshman in 2009 and hopes for an even bigger season this fall...

Anglin was a full-qualifier out of St. Joseph's High School in Santa Maria, California, but because he didn't play as a junior, D-1 recruiters didn't really know about him, so he decided to go the JC route in order to continue his football career.

"Hancock was the closest school and I liked the staff here," Anglin told JCFootball.com. "They run a great system here because it's a pro-style offense that throws and runs pretty well and that allowed me to fit into the scheme well."

With his ideal size and 4.5 speed, Anglin put up solid numbers -- 879 yards rushing and six touchdowns -- running both inside and outside.

"I'm probably a guy who runs off-tackle best," Anglin said. "I mean, I can run inside well and I never have problems getting outside, so I think I'm sort of a combination of the two styles."

Recruiting hasn't really started yet for Anglin, but he hopes a good summer and fall will help him earn a D-1 scholarship.

"If you're not playing ball to play at the highest level you shouldn't be playing," Anglin said. "I think I could be successful in a lot of systems and hope some coaches take a look at me because I think I could help them and would do anything they needed me to do."

As mentioned earlier, Anglin was a full-qualifier out of high school, so he can leave at any time, but he hopes sign with a school in December with three years to play two wherever he ends up.
