Fonoti pulls in first two offers

When last we spoke with Cerritos OT Fou Fonoti (6-5, 306) he was hearing from a handful of schools, but over the past month he's seen recruiting pick up steam and recently he picked up his first two offers. spoke to the big, physical lineman and he let us know where things stand...

"Arizona just offered me," Fonoti told "I already had an offer from Florida International from a couple of weeks ago and then just today (Tuesday) my coach gave me the letter with the offer from Arizona.

"It was really exciting for me to get an offer from them because they are a school I've been looking at, so it really made me think, but I definitely want to be patient and wait things out."

In addition to those two schools, Fonoti said he is getting a lot of attention from USC, Louisville, BYU, Washington State and Iowa State as well.

"I met with USC and Louisville just a couple of week ago when they were out here to see us for spring ball," Fonoti said. "I spoke with BYU a little and Washington State and Iowa State a little too and there are other schools recruiting me as well, but those are the ones I've spoken with the most recently."

Last year, Fonoti held down the right tackle spot for the Falcons, but this spring he's been moved to to the right side to replace a former teammate who has graduated.

"It's been a little strange because the footwork is different, but I think I'll be good," Fonoti admitted. "I'm just working on it all the time and I think I'll be just fine. My coaches said it will come."

Word is that Fonoti is on pace to finish up his AA in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
