Kansas gets in the mix with Garden City DT

While he originally hails from Florida, Garden City DT Maurice Couch (6-2, 295) currently resides in the heart of Kansas and recently the Jayhawks threw their hat in the ring for the rising interior defensive lineman...

"I just got offered by Kansas," an excited Couch told JCFootball.com over the weekend. "They had been out to see us practice during spring ball and then (Saturday) I talked to them and they offered me a scholarship.

"I'm not close to committing right now, but man, that is a great offer for me. I really like them a lot and I think really highly of what coach (Turner) Gill is doing there.

"He's not just a great football coach to me, he is a great man and he doesn't just talk to you about football, he talks with you about life. He's someone I think it would be great to play for and I think he could get the best out of me."

In addition to his offer from the Jayhawks, Couch has also garnered full rides from Arkansas State, Eastern Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Troy and UAB and is getting heavy interest from much of the rest of the country.

As a freshman last fall, Couch redshirted for the Broncbusters, so once he finishes up the 2010 season he'll have three to play three with whoever he signs with in February.
