Cerritos safety talks recruiting

One of the fastest risers up recruiting boards this spring has been Cerritos S Keith McGill (6-4, 214). Since we last spoke with the talented defensive back, he's pulled in four offers and there could be a couple more on the way very soon after he visits two Pac 10 schools this week...

"I have offers from San Diego State, New Mexico, Montana and Utah right now," McGill told JCFootball.com. "USC is real close to offering and I'm going up there on a visit (Tuesday), so there is a chance they could be offering me this week and Oregon State is a school I'm visiting Thursday and they also said there is a chance I could get an offer, but they are still doing some evaluations.

"Other than that, I've been getting calls from Washington State and high interest from Arizona, Arizona State and Auburn. I'm setting up an official visit with Kansas State for my bye week which is the week they play Nebraska, so they are another school I'm hearing a lot from."

While McGill continues to get heavy interest from schools and more offers could be on the way, he noted he isn't going to make a hasty decision.

"I'm not close to deciding right now," McGill said. "I want to take my time, take at least a couple of visits and then sit down and really weigh things out.

"I'm in no rush, so anyone that wants to recruit me and offer me is a school I'd consider."

After graduating from La Mirada (Ca.) High School back in 2007, McGill had planned to give up football to become a regular student, but he missed the game too much and walked on at Cerritos.

As a freshman last fall, McGill was a presence for the Falcons at free safety, posting over 30 tackles and five interceptions, taking back three for scores.

Physically, McGill has exactly what teams are looking for in their free safety, running a 4.33 forty time while posting a 36-inch vertical.

In the classroom, McGill is a solid student and is on pace to finish his AA degree in December with three years to play two wherever he ends up.
