Three offers and counting for COS corner

College of the Sequoias always produces top JUCO talent and this year is no exception. One player already on recruiting radars is CB Kenneth Spigner (5-11, 185) and he's already got three offers to his name. caught up with the talented cover-man and he updated us on things including what he's looking for in the school he ends up signing with...

Spigner prepped at Miami (Fl.) Jackson High School and had some family situations to take care of and thought he would sit out a year or two taking care of things. However, the new coach at his alma mater had different plans and contacted the COS coaching staff about the talented cover-man.

"I spoke with coach Allen a little bit and formed a good bond with him," Spigner told in between workouts. "I just felt like coming out here to the west coast was best for me and I'm having a lot of fun and enjoying my time here."

As a freshman, Spigner used his 4.31 speed and athleticism to shut down his side of the field on a regular basis and finished the season with 34 tackles and two interceptions.

"They stopped throwing my way pretty early in the season," Spigner lamented. "I didn't get a lot of chances to make plays, so when I got the chance I had to take advantage.

"This summer, I really worked on my 'off' coverage so that I could get that down a little better. I'd say it was my weakness, but I could still do it alright. I just wanted to be more sound, so that's what I focused on."

Recruiting has been going well with three schools offering and more showing him heavy interest.

"Right now I have offers from Tennessee, UCF and Florida Atlantic," Spigner said. "I'm also hearing a lot from Oregon, Oregon State, California, Arizona State and Arizona and a bunch of other schools are talking to my coaches about me too.

"I'm just looking for a family atmosphere and a place I can get the books taken care of so that I can play football and go to the NFL. I feel like I can focus on my studies, which are the most important to me, and still focus on football too and be successful at both."

Spigner will sign with a school in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
