2010 JC QUARTERBACK PROSPECTS
-- Fresno QB Lance Orender is having a huge season for the Rams, completing 127 of 251 for 2,153 yards, 18 touchdowns and 9 interceptions this year.
The 6'5", 205-pound freshman had 336 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Fresno's big 41-38 win over San Juaquin Delta on Saturday.
-- Sacramento's Cody Allen continues to put up huge numbers this year, completing 219 of 404 of his attempts for 2,671 yards, 22 touchdowns and 16 intereceptions.
-- Jeff Kidd is having a quietly solid season for College of the Sequoias. The talented signal-caller has completed 63% of his passes for 1,974 yards, 13 touchdowns and 9 interceptions for the 3-6 Giants.
-- Grossmont's Ryan Woods continues to put up impressive numbers for the Gauchos and was nearly perfect in a 69-34 win over Pasadena this weekend, completing 13 of 15 attempts for 278 yards and 4 touchdowns.
This season, the talented freshman has completed 59.5% of his passes for 2,495 yards, 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
-- Another freshman big-time performer under center has been Grand Rapids QB James Stallons.
While leading one of the top JUCO teams in the country, Stallons, a 6'6", 190-pound gun-slinger, has completed 104 of 169 attempts for 1,582 yards, 14 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
-- Last week in a 47-41 win over North Dakota College of Science, Ellsworth QB Willie Tindal had a huge game completing 32 of 41 pass attempts for 490 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception and rushed for 126 more yards.
For the season, the talented freshman signal-caller has thrown for 2,284 yards and 19 touchdowns with only 5 interceptions while leading his team to a 7-1 record.
-- Iowa Western's Zach Stoudt has put up solid numbers for the Reivers so far this season completing 112 of his 179 attempts for 1,408 yards, 14 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions.
The Louisville bounceback has been seeing his recruitment pick up over the past few weeks with looks from Pac 10, Big 12 and Big East schools all making calls.
-- Watch out! Santa Ana College quarterback Andrew McDonald (6-3, 200; RS-Fr.) is putting up great numbers for the Dons. In a 47-44 win over Desert last Saturday, he tied a SAC single game record with five touchdown passes.
Through six games, the bounceback from the U. of Arizona and son of former USC star QB Paul McDonald, has completed 86 of 122 for 1,169 yards, 16 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. His 70.5 completion % is the highest in southern California.
-- Foothill's Calvin Schmidtke had a huge game on Saturday for the Owls as he threw for 420 yards, completing 29 of 55 passes and had 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in a 31-28 win over third-ranked San Mateo.
For the season, the sophomore has completed 83 of 154 for 1,325 yards, 9 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
-- Jeff Kidd, a freshman at Reedley, had a huge game in the Tigers' loss to San Joaquin Delta going 22 of 37 for 302 yards and 2 touchdowns.
For the season, Kidd has gone 132 of 201 for 1,518 yards with 10 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions in what has been a rather forgettable season.
-- Pearl River's Melvin German continues to fill up the stat sheet every week throwing for 312 yards and 3 touchdowns in Pearl River's 37-19 win over Hinds.
German, a freshman, leads the entire NJCAA with 2,410 yards passing so far this season and is completing 66% of his pass attempts.
-- David Vega, a freshman at New Mexico Military Institute, has put up big numbers this season hitting on 57% of his passes and throwing for 2,047 yards, 15 touchdowns and 7 interceptions for a team that is 3-6 on the season.
-- City College of San Francisco's Steele Jantz could end up being one of the top signal-callers in the entire country this year.
The dual-threat quarterback had a huge game last week in the Rams' 21-17 win over Laney, rushing for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns and hit on 12 of 25 pass attempts for 235 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions in the game.
This season, Jantz, a Hawaii bounce-back, has completed 105 of 192 attempts for 1,909 yards, 17 touchdowns and 6 interceptions and is second on CCSF's squad with 353 yards and 5 touchdowns rushing.
-- Copiah-Lincoln is 5-0 and heading toward a big showdown with Pearl River this weekend. One of the biggest reason's the Wolfpack have been able to get off to such a fast start is the play of sophomore QB Percy Turner.
The gifted signal-caller has thrown for nearly 900 yards while posting 12 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions. He's also run for 150 yards and 1 touchdown.
-- Early on this season, one of the best looking JUCO QBs in the country has been Grossmont's Ryan Woods. So far this season, the talented gun-slinger has completed 61% of his passes for 1,583 yards, 14 touchdowns and 6 interceptions while leading the Griffs to a 4-1 start.
Grossmont's next game is on October 16th against Saddleback.
-- Ventura's Antavius Sims continues to light up the stat sheet as the Pirates are now 3-2.
This season the dual-threat signal-caller has completed 62.3% of his passes for 964 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions while leading the way on the ground with 556 yards and six more touchdowns.
-- Palomar QB Nate Ong has led the Comets to a 3-2 record including a thrilling 25-21 win last Saturday over El Camino.
This season the talented signal-caller can completed 60.2% of his passes for nearly 1,100 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.
-- Diablo Valley's Joey Bradley had a huge game last week against Santa Rosa. He completed 27 of 49 pass attempts for 308 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in a 32-30 win over Santa Rosa.
So far this season, Bradley has completed 55% of his passes for 1,275 yards, 9 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.
DVC is 4-0 and faces Sacramento this weekend.
-- Ellsworth always puts up huge numbers offensively and this year is no different from the quarterback position as freshman Willie Tindal has completed 125 of 179 attempts (69.8%) for 1,545 yards, 16 TDs and 3 INTs.
Last week against Harper College, Tindal had a huge game completing 336 yards and five touchdowns in Ellsworth's 49-13 win.
This weekend, Tindal and his teammates take on College of Dupage.
-- Another freshman putting up big numbers is Pearl River's Melvin German.
While leading his team to a 4-1 record, the talented dual-threat signal-caller has completed 69% of his passes for nearly 1,400 yards, nine touchdowns and only one interceptions while rushing for 100 yards and six touchdowns.
In Pearl River's last game, German completed 25 of his 38 attempts for 353 yards and three touchdowns in a 30-27 overtime win over Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Updated 9/13/10 In the first two weeks of the season, Blinn's Justin Tuggle completed 60% of his passes for 322 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing for 184 yards and four more scores.
In both wins, Tuggle as well as the rest of the first units were pulled at halftime, however last weekend, the Bucs stumbled, losing 31-28 to NE Oklahoma.
Hinds QB Anthony Sheppard had 317 yards passing, completed 15 of 21 passes, and accounted for four touchdowns (three passing, one rushing) while leading the Eagles to a 50-42 win over East Mississippi.
