Osunde close to setting up first visit

After a stellar freshman campaign, Kilgore CB Junior Osunde (5-11, 195) has already garnered a lot of recruiting attention and he's close to setting up a visit with a Mountain West program...

"New Mexico is a school that has been recruiting me for a while and they want me to come up for a visit this coming weekend when we have our bye week," Osunde told JCFootball.com recently. "They are close to offering me and I've been talking to the coaches there for a while, but they want me to come out for a visit to see the school so I'm thinking about going."

In addition to the Wolfpack, Southern Miss, Arizona and Arizona State as well as Utah State, New Mexico State, TCU and Texas Tech have all been in contact as well.

Last fall, Osunde posted 51 tackles, over 10 passes defensed and conference leading six interceptions and so far this season, after missing the first game with a hamstring injury, he's posted four tackles and and interception in one game of action.

"The first week I just tweaked my hamstring, so they held me out," Osunde said. "(Saturday) we played Tyler and we lost in over time, but I still had a pick in like the first six plays and I had four tackles too.

"They started throwing my way early, but then they threw away from me after I got the interception."

Osunde has only one class remaining before he finishes his AA degree in December and plans to sign with a school then. He'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
