After a decent 13-8 start in April that saw them near the top of the Midwest League standings, the Burlington Bees stumbled to a 13-17 record in May. The road was especially unkind to the Bees, who were 4-10. They fared a little better at home, going 9-7 with two walk-off wins. Their 26-25 overall record has them in third place, 9 games behind first-place Quad City, who have the best record in minor league baseball.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH: Andrew Daniel, Second Baseman

Daniel reached in all but two of the 29 games he played in May. He finished the month with a .302/.346/.560 slash, only over matched by teammate Natanael Delgado. However, Daniel's consistency, 26 RBI and 15 runs scored over the month put him well above as the elite of Burlington in the month of May. Daniel highlighted himself for a seven-game hit-streak where he went 10-for-28 with two doubles, two triples, two home runs and finished the streak with a seven RBI game.

PITCHER OF THE MONTH: Jake Jewell, Right-Handed Reliever

May was a strong month for one of the Angels top prospects, Jake Jewell. Jewell finished the month with a 2.33 ERA and two saves over 19.1 innings. Jewell also struck out 30 of the 80 batters he faced, while walking just six. Opposing players hit just .188/.262/.260 against Jewell in May.
