The Dominican Angels pushed themselves into a playoff chase with strong offensive output, but need their pitching staff to pickup their game to pickup more ground on first place. As a team, the DSL Angels hit .263/.369/.362, and had some strong leaders that put them there.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH: Leonardo Rivas, Utility

Rivas lead the DSL Angels in runs scored (21), runs batted in (17) and stolen bases (13) over the month of June. Rivas reached base nearly half of his plate appearances, looking at a .301/.491/.466 slash, reaching base in 21 of his 24 games in June, including his first nine games of the month.

PITCHER OF THE MONTH: Jose Suarez, Left-Handed Starter

Suarez is showing that he's one of the elite prospects playing in the Dominican this summer, and his first month showed signs of that. Suarez posted a 1.37 ERA and 0.864 WHIP in June, with a 1-1 record. Suarez held bats to a .208/.224/.278 slash and an 8% line drive percentage. Batters had trouble hitting the ball in general, but particularly in the air, as Suarez induced groundballs 48.71% of the time in June.
