Gonzalez, Smith added to All-Star roster

Arkansas Travelers righthanders Miguel Gonzalez and Jesse Smith have been added to the North Division team for Tuesday night's Texas League All-Star Game at the Travelers' own Ray Winder Field in Little Rock.

Miguel Gonzalez began the year by posting a 1.71 ERA in 26.1 innings at Rancho Cucamonga before earning a promotion in mid-May. Since joining the Travelers bullpen, the 22-year-old has collected three saves with a 2.84 ERA. He has held his opponents scoreless in nine of 11 appearances, striking out 15 in 19 innings of work.

Jesse Smith, who started just two games at the High-A level before jumping to Arkansas, has been the Travelers most effective starter through the first half of the season, but owns just a 3-8 record with a 4.50 ERA. The Angels' sixth-round pick in the 2003 First Year Player Draft has allowed a .316 average against in 80 innings this season.

The two pitchers join Brandon Wood, Eric Rodland and Jason Aspito in the contest. Manager Tyrone Boykin and coaches Keith Johnson and Ken Patterson will wear the Travelers uniform for the North Division. Wood will also participate in the home run contest before the game.
