Three Bees named to all-star game

The Pacific Coast League announced today that second baseman Howie Kendrick and starting pitchers Joe Saunders and Jered Weaver will represent the league at the Triple-A All-Star game against the International League's best in Toledo on July 12.

"This is a tremendous accomplishment for our players," said Bees Manager Brian Harper. "These three are among the best in the league and our record is a reflection of their performance. Joe and Jered have pitched extremely well and Howie is an incredible hitter."

Jered Weaver is 6-1 with the Bees with a 2.10 ERA, posting 93 strikeouts in just 77 innings of work for Salt Lake. He also started and won four games for the Angels, where he had a 1.37 ERA.

Joe Saunders, a former first round draft pick, is tied for the PCL lead with nine wins and is sixth with a 2.33 ERA.

Howie Kendrick currently leads all of Triple-A baseball with a .388 batting average and is among PCL leaders in a variety of offensive categories including slugging percentage (1st), doubles (2nd), and on-base percentage (4th).

"We are honored to have three players selected as All-Stars," said Bees General Manager Marc Amicone. "This is a testament to the Angels farm system and the quality of players they provide, especially for fans in Salt Lake."
